Bihar Public Service Commission came into existence on 1 April 1949 under the Government of India Act 1935, after its separation from the Commission for the States of Orissa and Madhya Pradesh. At first, its headquarters was begun in Ranchi. Then BPSC decided to shift their headquarters of the Commission from Ranchi to Patna in the year of 1951, 01st March. The first Chairman of the Bihar Public Service Commission was Shri Rajandhari Sinha and the first Secretary of the Commission was Shri Radha Krishna Choudhary.
